RASPP named the best places to live for expats in Asia
The Telegram channel of the Russian-Asian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs names the best places to live for expats in the five largest financial centers of the Asia-Pacific region when it comes to the cost of living .
Tokyo ranked first in ten indicators, including potential wage increases, rents, personal taxes and education spending. Japan's capital boasts relatively low international school fees and stable rents.
Hong Kong, hit by an exodus of expats since the pandemic, came in second. It offers the lowest personal income tax rate and the biggest expected jump in wages among the five cities.
Shanghai and Sydney follow. Singapore, recently named the world's most expensive city due to the influx of foreign workers, came in fifth place. Low tax rates and safety attracted the wealthy to Singapore (where foreign residents already accounted for 30%) in the wake of the pandemic, sending prices soaring.
