MOSCOW, February 5 In new subjects of the Russian Federation During the presidential elections, the protection of public order and ensuring public safety must be strengthened, said Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation Nikolai Bulaev.
«Along with the traditional security measures for all regions of Russia, this decree stipulates that in the new constituent entities of the Russian Federation the protection of public order and ensuring public safety, the security of premises associated with the electoral process, including voting premises, must be strengthened and premises in which complexes of automation equipment for the state automated system “Elections” are located, places and routes for conducting voting outside the voting premises,” Bulaev said in an interview with the Donetsk News Agency.
In addition, he specified that security measures must be ensured for members of election commissions.
“The safety of members of election commissions, as well as voters, will be ensured by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation and the National Guard. In order to ensure protection from emergencies, employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations will be involved,” added the deputy chairman of the Central Election Commission.
The Federation Council has scheduled presidential elections for March 17, 2024. Voting will last three days: March 15, 16 and 17.
Currently, 8 people are vying for the post of head of state. The Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation has registered four presidential candidates — Leonid Slutsky, Nikolai Kharitonov, Vladislav Davankov and Vladimir Putin.
The Central Election Commission must make a decision on registration or refusal of registration in relation to all candidates no later than February 10.
