MOSCOW, February 6 American journalist Tucker Carlson could do «knight's move» and arrange the premiere of an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin on one of the Russian video hosting sites, says State Duma deputy Anton Gorelkin. He wrote about this in his Telegram channel.
«Tucker Carlson's visit to Moscow… — everyone is wondering: did he just come to look at Russia or does he intend to record an interview with Vladimir Putin? …What will happen when this «Will the meeting take place? I think that one of its main consequences will be the next stage of tightening the screws in the American information field,» he wrote.
The deputy recalled that Tucker Carlson was “canceled” from the Fox News channel, and since then the channel “pretends that its once most popular face no longer exists.”
“Therefore, we can assume that everything possible will be done to make it clear to Elon Musk that there is no place for such content on ex-Twitter, where Carlson moved after Fox,” the deputy added.
According to the parliamentarian, Tucker Carlson can make a “knight’s move” and arrange the premiere of an interview with Vladimir Putin on one of the Russian video hosting sites.
“I wonder if they will meet him halfway or if the fear of losing applications in the App Store and Google Play will be stronger than the desire to support our president and freedom of speech?” — Gorelkin wondered.
Telegram channel Mash previously wrote that American journalist Carlson is in Moscow and on the evening of February 3 was spotted at the Bolshoi Theater at the ballet «Spartacus». The possibility of Carlson's interview with the Russian leader was reported back in September 2023, when the journalist, in an interview with the Swiss magazine Die Weltwoche, stated that he tried to interview the Russian President, but was banned by the US authorities. The journalist did not specify the circumstances of the incident.
Earlier, the Bloomberg agency, citing a source, reported that the possibility of conducting an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin by American journalist Tucker Carlson was being discussed in the Kremlin.
Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, answering earlier a question about Carlson’s plans to interview the head of the Russian state, replied that he had nothing yet to report about Vladimir Putin’s interview with foreign media, noting that the Kremlin welcomes the work of foreign journalists in Russia .
