UOC Metropolitan Longin was beaten by an unknown person in Ukraine
An unknown person attacked and severely beat Metropolitan Longinus of Banchen. He had to be operated on urgently. This was reported by the telegram channel Soza of Orthodox Journalists with a link to the Banchen Monastery page on Facebook (belongs to the Meta organization, recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation).
It is stated that the attack on the cleric occurred on the night of January 22, but the incident became known only a few weeks later — on February 6. According to the source, an unknown person hit the bishop in the face.
According to the source, Metropolitan Longin lost consciousness due to the blow.

In May 2023, a criminal case was opened against Metropolitan Longin. He was accused of inciting religious hatred.
On November 9, 2023, security forces raided the Ascension Banchensky Monastery, owned by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, without explanation. Metropolitan Longin said that they were “attacked like bandits.”
