The version for Southeast Asia experienced the first restyling. There, the model sports a new grille and optics, but the interior remains almost unchanged. The Asian cross is available both with an internal combustion engine and as a HEV hybrid.
The full-fledged crossover Corolla Cross in the Toyota range appeared in 2020; it is built on the same GA-C platform as the Corolla cars (sedan, station wagon and hatchback). The world premiere was held in Thailand, and the SUV, which has undergone a planned restyling, is presented there today. Note that the Toyota Corolla Cross is a truly global model; it is sold in almost all regions of the brand’s presence, including China, Europe and the USA. At the same time, the appearance and equipment vary depending on the market, that is, it is not a fact that in other countries the SUV will subsequently be updated in the same way.

Designed for Southeast Asia, the crossover received a frameless radiator grille with “honeycombs” in the style of the fresh prestigious Toyota Camry sedan (in the US version) and the Toyota Crown Signia/Estate SUV. The headlights of the Thai Corolla Cross have the same shape, but the diode filling is new, like the options for Japan and Europe.

In addition, the front bumper was retouched, and the design of the rear lights changed. The palette of body colors has been supplemented with a new shade of Cement Gray Metallic, plus the design of 18-inch wheels has been updated (the crossover also has 17-inch wheels). There are also several design packages available for the model: for example, the Urban Prestige set includes original bumper and sill covers. In Thailand, you can also buy a “sportier” Toyota Corolla Cross GR Sport with a more aggressive body kit and its own grille. So for this design, only the optics were replaced.

In the cabin there is a new multimedia system tablet with a diagonal of 10.1 inches instead of 9 inches. The base Toyota Corolla Cross now has a 7-inch display in the dashboard instead of a 4.2-inch screen, and expensive versions get a full-fledged 12.3-inch diagonal virtual dashboard. The list of equipment of rich configurations of the Thai crossover also included a panoramic roof, wireless charging for a smartphone, a standard DVR, and all-round cameras.

Before the premiere, some local media suggested that following the Japanese modification, the crossover would switch to a naturally aspirated 2.0 engine, but all the technology remained the same. In Thailand, the cheapest Toyota Corolla Cross is offered with a 1.8 naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 140 hp. and a variator. The remaining versions have a HEV hybrid installation (without the possibility of charging from the mains), which includes a 1.8 engine, an electric motor and an electromechanical variator, the total output is 122 hp. The Thai SUV only comes with front-wheel drive.
