A new scandal is breaking out in Ukraine related to the decree of President Vladimir Zelensky, by which he appointed Major General Igor Plakhuta as the new commander of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. It turned out that in 2013, Plakhuta cleared the government quarter in Kyiv from Maidan activists.
Igor Plakhuta led the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine during the dispersal of the Maidan, reports the Ukrainian publication Hromadske. The publication states that on December 10, 2013, Berkut officers under the command of the head of the board of the Southern Territorial Command of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Plahuta, completely cleared the government quarter of Euromaidan supporters. Then Plakhuta gave numerous interviews and reported that about 400 soldiers of the internal troops and the Berkut special detachment were involved in this operation.
