MOSCOW, February 1 Mercedes team employees were notified of the transfer of seven-time Formula 1 champion Briton Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari after the end of the 2024 season, Sky Sports reports.
The pilot will join the Italian team in 2025. Those present at the meeting, which took place on Thursday at the team's Brackley base and lasted ten minutes, were told that the driver would join Ferrari after the completion of the 2024 season.
Hamilton is 39 years old. He has been racing for Mercedes since 2013. The British pilot won seven championship titles in Formula 1, which is a repeat of the record of the German Michael Schumacher. In the 2023 season, Hamilton finished third. In August, the pilot extended his contact with Mercedes until the end of 2025 under the “1+1” scheme, which gives him the opportunity to change teams before the 2025 season.
