Putin signed a law on costs for pre-investigation checks

MOSCOW, February 14 Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on ensuring the uniform application of the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation (CPC RF) regarding the reimbursement of procedural costs for pre-investigation checks; the corresponding document is posted on the portal for the official publication of legal acts.
The law amends Articles 131 and 132 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation. Previously, the provisions of Article 131 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation included expenses associated with criminal proceedings as procedural costs. In addition, reimbursement of such expenses was carried out in the manner established by Article 132 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation at the expense of funds from the federal budget or funds from participants in criminal proceedings.
At the same time, in accordance with the previous norms of legislation, the official or body conducting the pre-investigation check had the right, before initiating a criminal case, to carry out procedural actions, the implementation of which may require material costs.

The amendments establish the possibility of extending the procedure for reimbursement of procedural costs to all criminal proceedings.
