New Rezvani Beast: carbon fiber body, 1000 horsepower V8, armor and spy stuff

The American company Rezvani Motors presented the new generation Beast supercar, made on the basis of the mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette C8. The body of the donor supercar has been heavily redesigned, the engine has received powerful doping, and armor and a set of agent 007 gadgets are offered as options.

Beast (the name translates into Russian as “beast”) was the first model of Rezvani Motors, founded in 2013 by entrepreneur Ferris Rezvani; early sports cars with this name were based on the Ariel Atom and Lotus Elise chassis. In 2017, the Rezvani company switched to brutal SUVs with a monstrous military design — it was they who led it to success and allowed it to properly promote itself; the latest product in this genre was Vengeance based on the Cadillac Escalade. Now Ferris Rezvani has decided to return to where he started — sports cars, and now the all-new Beast is ready.

On the outside, the new Rezvani Beast is certainly similar to its predecessors, but has a completely different technical basis: the eighth-generation Chevrolet Corvette replaced the British platforms, from which the chassis, power unit, load-bearing body structure and most interior elements were taken. Almost all of the Beast's exterior panels are new, made from carbon fiber. The original supercar's removable hardtop is retained, meaning the Beast is a targa. The kinematics of opening doors has been changed — in Rezvani they soar sideways and upwards. The Beast has a claimed weight of 1,343 kg in standard configuration, which is about two hundred pounds less than the original Corvette Stingray.

In the interior of the Beast, the original Corvette is unmistakably recognizable; Rezvani's signature features have been reduced to a redrawn central tunnel, a common crooked visor above the instrument and multimedia screens, and a sawed-off steering wheel — it was stripped of the upper part of the rim, so now it is a steering wheel. The upholstery of the seats on the demo sample is completely standard, GM, but at the request of the client, the Rezvani company, of course, is ready to offer custom tailoring.

In the Corvette Stingray, the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 LT2 produces 502 hp. Rezvani equipped it with two turbochargers, a new exhaust system and a number of other improvements, after which the power increased to 1014 hp. The standard transmission is an 8-speed Tremec DCT automatic (with two clutches), all power is transmitted to the rear wheels. The new Beast accelerates to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds and completes the quarter mile in 9.6 seconds.

Rezvani is going to release only 20 copies of the new Beast. The beast has a minimum price of $485,000 (the original Corvette Stingray starts at $68,300), and on top of that you can add two expensive package options. The first is called the Armor Package and costs $55,000, adding armor and bulletproof glass to the body. The protection class is not specified, but it is clear that with armor the dynamic qualities of the supercar will noticeably deteriorate.

The name of the 007 Package speaks for itself, it includes a rather pointless but effective set of equipment that could be useful to James Bond: a smoke screen, blinding lighting equipment, siren and strobe lights, tear gas dispenser, electromagnetic protection pulse in case of an atomic explosion, explosives detector, night thermal imager, puncture-proof run flat tires, electromagnetic door locks, gas masks, intercom, resuscitation kit with a bunch of medications and a warming bag. This whole facility costs $45,000. Armor Package and 007 Package are compatible, so the result is a supercar with a rather exotic set of consumer qualities.
