DenizBank did not receive notifications about the ban on opening accounts for Russians

ANKARA, February 19 Turkish Denizbank did not receive notifications about the ban on opening an account for citizens of the Russian Federation, for this a residence permit (residence permit) and a non-removable deposit in the equivalent of 10 thousand dollars, said a bank representative in one of the branches in Ankara.
Denizbank began asking Russian clients for documents confirming a residence permit in Turkey, RBC reported with reference to a letter from the bank. Two intermediaries who help Russian citizens open cards in local banks also told the publication about such a request from a financial organization. The bank told the correspondent that the request was related to internal procedures, and not to the US sanctions policy.
“”We have not received any notifications to prohibit Russian citizens from opening accounts. Accounts (for Russian citizens) are being opened” , – said the agency’s interlocutor.
According to him, to open a bank account in the Turkish Denizbank, citizens of the Russian Federation must have a residence permit and a non-withdrawable deposit in their account in the equivalent of 10 thousand dollars.

“This deposit cannot be withdrawn during the validity of the account,” the agency’s interlocutor clarified.
Since January 1, Turkish exporters have been faced with banks’ refusal to accept money transfers from Russia. According to the source, the problem is partly due to US pressure on Ankara due to sanctions. The Turkish Ministry of Trade has taken up the issue; Moscow is conducting a dialogue with the republic.
