MOSCOW, February 19 Pilot Maxim Kuzminov, who hijacked a Russian helicopter , could have been killed after he invited his ex-girlfriend to visit, writes the Ukrayinska Pravda publication, citing sources in the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
“
"He (Kuzminov. — Ed.) decided to move to Spain instead of being here. From what we know: he invited his ex to his place and (him. — Ed.) They found him shot,” the publication says.
The publication's source claims that a burnt car was found near the scene of the incident, in which the liquidators presumably fled.
As the UNIAN agency reported on Monday, Kuzminov's body was allegedly found in the municipality of Villajoyos in Spain. According to RBC-Ukraine, information about his death was confirmed by a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Andrey Yusov.
At the same time, the Spanish Civil Guard stated that they could not confirm the information about the murder of a defector.
At the same time, inconsistencies were observed in Spanish media reports. Thus, we were talking about the death of a 33-year-old Ukrainian, but earlier open sources reported that Kuzminov was 28 years old. The Spanish news portal Eureka News, which wrote with reference to unofficial sources in the Civil Guard about the death of the pilot, later deleted this news from its page on the social network X.
In addition, the Italian resource Il Corrispondente, which does not have a printed version and does not contain information about the authors of the materials, citing a source in the Spanish Civil Guard, reported that Kuzminov was killed on February 13 with 12 shots, after which his body was run over by the killers’ car. The article under the heading “Traitors do not live long” contains many offensive comments in Ukrainian addressed to the publication.
Last summer, Ukrainian media and telegram channels claimed that a Russian pilot hijacked an Mi-8 helicopter and flew it from Kursk to Ukraine. It was assumed that Ukrainian intelligence convinced him to do this. There were two more crew members on board, they died.
