The body of Alexei Navalny was given to his mother, ally of the oppositionist Kira Yarmysh reported this on her Twitter.
“For now Lyudmila Ivanovna (mother of Alexei Navalny — MZ) is in Salekhard. The funeral is yet to come. We don’t know whether the authorities will interfere with carrying them out the way the family wants and as Alexey deserves. We will provide information as it becomes available,” she wrote.
The death of Alexei Navalny in IK-3 in Kharp became known on February 16. Only on the evening of February 21, the politician’s mother Lyudmila was able to see her son’s body. The medical report, which was shown to the mother, indicated “natural causes” of death.
Investigators demanded that Lyudmila Navalnaya hold a secret funeral, but she did not agree, because she wants everyone to be able to say goodbye to the politician. Navalny's associates promised 100 thousand euros and assistance with the evacuation of military, police, and employees from Russia FSB, the Investigative Committee and the prosecutor's office for important information about the murder of an oppositionist.
