MOSCOW, February 28 A criminal case was opened into the death of a patient after surgery at a plastic surgery clinic in Moscow, the senior assistant to the head of the capital's main department of the Investigative Committee told reporters Russia Yulia Ivanova.
Earlier it was reported that Moscow investigators began a pre-investigation check due to the death of a patient operated on in a private clinic; the head of the RF Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, requested a report. It was noted that social media reported about a man who died 10 days after an operation performed in a private capital clinic. The patient was discharged home, but three days later he became ill.
“A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime provided for in paragraph “c” of Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers, resulting in death),” Ivanova said.
According to the investigation, on February 16, an operation was performed in one of the capital’s private plastic surgery clinics in the north of Moscow. It is noted that a few days later the 35-year-old man felt a deterioration in his health, went to a medical facility, where he subsequently fell into a coma and died.
A search is currently being carried out in the clinic, official and medical documentation, as well as other investigative actions are being conducted to establish a complete picture of what happened. A number of forensic examinations, including a medical one, will be scheduled in the near future.
As a law enforcement source previously said, the man was operated on at Timur Khaidarov’s IQ Plastique clinic, and subsequently died. According to preliminary information, the operation was not carried out by Khaidarov himself.
Roszdravnadzor is ascertaining the cause of death of a man who was hospitalized several days after an operation at the plastic surgeon Khaidarov's clinic for gastric resection, the department's press service reported yesterday.
