The online voting system in Moscow coped with a high load

MOSCOW, March 2 Moscow electronic voting system successfully coped with a high load and cyber attacks, according to the official Telegram channel of the public headquarters for monitoring the Russian presidential elections in Moscow in 2024.

“In the very first minutes, the system encountered extremely high traffic, when tens of thousands of people tried to vote at the same time, and was also subjected to massive multidisciplinary cyber attacks that lasted until the end of testing. All attacks were successfully repelled, the system coped with the load, and every voter had the opportunity to vote on an issue important for the city,” Artem Kostyrko, head of the department for improving territorial management and developing smart projects of the Moscow government, is quoted in the message.

It is noted that testing allowed specialists to check the performance of all systems and terminals at the polling stations. To do this, stress tests were carried out in some areas: for example, communications or electricity were specially turned off.

Test voting before the Russian presidential elections began in the capital on Saturday at 10:00 and lasted until 14:00.
The Federation Council has scheduled presidential elections for March 17, 2024. Voting will last three days — March 15, 16 and 17.
Four candidates registered by the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation are vying for the post of head of state: Leonid Slutsky, Nikolai Kharitonov, Vladislav Davankov and Vladimir Putin.
