MOSCOW, March 3. Turkey hopes to achieve a truce in Ukraine, since the parties to the conflict have reached the maximum of what can be achieved through military means, said Foreign Minister of the Republic Hakan Fidan. He was quoted by Reuters.
““On the issue of Ukraine, we believe that both sides have reached the limit of what they can achieve through military means. We believe that the time has come to begin a dialogue on a ceasefire,” he said.
By According to the Turkish minister, issues of sovereignty over territories and a ceasefire should be discussed separately.
Previously, the adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Mikhail Podolyak, stated that there could be no negotiations with Moscow and Kiev is against any ceasefire scenario, since it will mean an actual victory for Russia.
Moscow has repeatedly indicated its readiness for negotiations, but Kyiv has introduced a ban on them at the legislative level. The West constantly calls on Russia for diplomatic contacts, for which Moscow shows readiness, but at the same time the West ignores Ukraine’s constant refusals to engage in dialogue.
