MOSCOW, March 7. The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine made big mistakes when planning defense in the Avdiivka area, writes Business Insider.
“Problems in planning led to the fact that Ukraine missed the opportunity to build defensive lines on time on a key section of the front,” the publication says.
It notes that the Ukrainian military began organizing defenses near Avdiivka only three months ago and achieved only modest success.
“Only rudimentary trenches were dug, but nothing more,” writes BI.
The publication quotes the words of retired Ukrainian Armed Forces Colonel Sergei Grabsky, who admitted that the Ukrainian command does not pay enough attention to defense, despite the fact that there is not enough personnel and equipment. As a result, construction is behind schedule, he added.
If the offensive actions of the Russians slow down, Ukraine can gain time to strengthen its position, but only the future will show whether this will succeed, the publication concluded.
