Sandu is settling scores with the head of Gagauzia, hiding behind the law, Zakharova said

MOSCOW, March 7 President of Moldova Maia Sandu , under the guise of the law, she is settling scores with the head of the Gagauz autonomy, Evgenia Gutsul, said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in a commentary to the RT television channel.
“Sandu is no longer even ashamed of her actions, although everyone understands perfectly well that she uses the law for exactly the opposite purposes Namely, as an element of political settling of scores, pressure, and in this case <…> direct threats to a person, behind whom is not just the votes of voters, but also the struggle <…> of her electorate (I’m talking about Hutsul), who confirmed for the second time, literally going out into the street, the results of their expression of will,” the diplomat emphasized.

According to her, the current administration of Moldova is hiding behind democracy, but in fact is trying to establish a dictatorship in the country.

“What is happening yesterday and today in Moldova, and we have been observing this for several months after Sandu’s arrival, this is evidenced, in my opinion, most clearly,” Zakharova summed up.
Now Hutsul is on a working visit to Russia, where she had meetings with Federation Council Chairman Valentina Matvienko and other government officials. She also took part in the World Youth Festival and held negotiations with the leadership of Russian regions with which Gagauzia has partnership agreements. On Wednesday, the head of the autonomy discussed the political situation in Moldova with Vladimir Putin. This information was confirmed by presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov.

As Hutsul herself noted, some in Chisinau are haunted by her communication with the Russian leader. This was confirmed by today’s statement by the head of the press service of the Moldovan government, Daniel Voda, according to whom contacts between oppositionists and the Russian leadership contradict the interests of Moldovan citizens. He also called the Gagauz leader a representative of the Shor criminal group.

In addition, the day before, the acting Prosecutor General of Moldova, Ion Muntean, said in an interview with Jurnal TV that the materials of the criminal case against Gutsul would soon be transferred to court. These words were heard immediately after the broadcaster reported that the head of the autonomy posted a publication on the Telegram channel about a meeting with Putin.
In turn, Moldovan oppositionist Ilan Shor said that Chisinau is preparing to arrest Hutsul immediately after her return to her homeland .

The situation in the autonomy Last spring, Hutsul won the elections for the head of Gagauzia, in which she was a candidate from the Shor party. In June, the Moldovan authorities declared this political force unconstitutional, accusing it, among other things, of collaborating with Russia. President Maia Sandu has not yet signed a decree approving Hutsul as a member of the government, although this is required by the legislation of the republic.
Gagauzia is an autonomy in the south of Moldova, which traditionally advocates rapprochement with Russia, while Chisinau has declared a course towards European integration. In February 2014, a referendum was held in this territory on the issue of determining the vector of the country’s foreign policy. More than 98 percent of its participants were in favor of integrating the republic into the Customs Union.
