The Basmanny District Court of Moscow extended the arrest of the lawyers of politician Alexei Navalny, Vadim Kobzev, Alexey Liptser and Igor Sergunin, until June 13, a Mediazona correspondent reports from the court. This is the first appearance of lawyers in court after the death of Alexei Navalny.
The preventive measure for Igor Sergunin was extended separately, for Vadim Kobzev and Alexei Liptser — together. Unlike previous meetings on the lawyers' case, today's extension of the preventive measure for Kobzev and Liptser took place in the open.

Three lawyers are accused in the case of participation in an extremist community (Part 2 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code). They have been in pre-trial detention since October 13. In November, Kobzev, Liptser and Sergunin were included in the “list of extremists and terrorists” of Rosfinmonitoring.

The investigation decided that Navalny’s defenders, “using their status,” regularly passed on letters from the oppositionist of their colony to his comrades. Thus, Navalny “continued to carry out the functions of the leader and director of the extremist community.”

After the arrest of Kobzev, Liptser and Sergunin, Navalny’s other lawyers, Alexander Fedulov and Olga Mikhailova, who had managed to leave Russia, were arrested in absentia.
