A resident of Cherepovets, who was recruited from a prison colony into the Wagner PMC, was again convicted of beating a man to death

The Vologda Regional Court approved the sentence of eight years in a maximum security colony imposed on Cherepovets resident Alexey Kochin; two years ago he was sent to a special regime colony, but he was released after participating in the war in Ukraine. Nest drew attention to the court's decision.

In December last year, the Cherepovets City Court found Kochin guilty of intentionally causing grievous harm to a person's health, negligently resulting in the death of the victim (Part 4 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code). A month ago, the regional court approved this decision.

According to investigators, Cochin beat to death the 48-year-old son of his acquaintance, who objected to his father’s drinking of alcohol. The victim received a blunt head injury, accompanied by a cerebral contusion, and soon died.

As mitigating circumstances, the court of first instance took into account that Kochin participated in the war in Ukraine, and also received awards from the Wagner PMC and gratitude from the head of the self-proclaimed LPR. At the same time, the court ruling stated that there were no aggravating circumstances. The defendant's name is marked “not previously convicted.”

The conviction was likely vacated at the same time that Cochin was pardoned for his participation in hostilities. According to the website of the Cherepovets City Court, in 2022 the man was tried under articles of robbery (Part 1 of Article 161 of the Criminal Code) and causing grievous harm to human health, resulting in the death of the victim through negligence (Part 4 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code). In the second case, he was sentenced to 11.5 years in a special regime colony.

In 2016, Cochin was sentenced in a murder case (Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code). As “Layout” writes, he was sentenced to seven years in a maximum security colony, but then released on parole.
