An exhibition of Russian costumes opened in the capital of Burkina Faso

OUAGADOUGOU, March 9 An exhibition of Russian costumes opened in the capital of Burkina Faso, the city of Ouagadougou, the correspondent reports.
The exhibition was organized by the Russia House in Burkina Faso. Its head, Evgenia Tikhonova, said that the exhibition is called “The Charm of Folk Costume.”

“Local residents generally know little about Russia, so we are introducing them step by step to the Russian language and Russian culture. We need to start small. Today we brought dolls, and tomorrow – ballet. The main thing is that we are developing cooperation between the two countries,” said she.

The creator of the exhibits is Galia Valeva, head of the “Art Doll, Toy and Matryoshka” section of the Eurasian Art Union. The exhibits were created based on the study of original ethnographic costumes in museum storerooms. This material made it possible to bring together disparate elements and create a coherent image from headdress to shoes in order to convey the traditions, originality and richness of Russian culture.
The non-state «Russian House» in Ouagadougou began work on January 13 with the opening of the exhibition «Window to Russia». The opening of the “Russian House” was attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic, Appolinaire Quielem de Tambela, and representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry. «Russian House» opened Russian language courses in Ouagadougou, where approximately 120 people are currently studying.
