MOSCOW, March 12 Soviet actress Galina Yatskina died at the age of 80, shortly after she took monastic vows, the archpriest announced this Vasily Gelevan in his Telegram channel.

“The Honored Artist of the RSFSR Galina Ivanovna Yatskina has gone to the Lord,” he wrote.
According to the archpriest, the actress took monastic vows before her death into the schema, receiving the name Vera.
“We ask for prayers for the newly deceased Schema nun Vera,” says Gelevan’s message.
Galina Yatskina was born in Makhachkala on June 16, 1944. She studied at the B. Shchukin Theater School. After graduating from graduate school, she became the first actress in the history of Soviet cinema to receive a PhD. Yatskina gained particular fame thanks to such films as “Women”, “French Lessons” and “A Word for Defense”.
