VOLGOGRAD, March 15 Voter turnout in the first On the day of voting in the Russian presidential elections in the Volgograd region, the vote was almost 45%, said the chairman of the regional election commission, Viktor Cheryachukin.
“The first day of voting in the election of the President of the Russian Federation has ended in the Volgograd region… Residents of the Volgograd region are highly active: on the first day of voting the turnout was 44.82%,” Cheryachukin is quoted as saying in the Telegram channel of the election commission.
On Friday at 8.00, 1,408 polling stations opened in the Volgograd region, including eight polling stations established in places of temporary stay of voters. More than 1.7 million voters in the region will be able to take part in the elections.
The Federation Council has scheduled presidential elections for March 17, 2024. Voting lasts three days: March 15, 16 and 17. Four candidates registered by the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation are vying for the post of head of state: Leonid Slutsky, Nikolai Kharitonov, Vladislav Davankov and Vladimir Putin.
