MOSCOW, March 15 Early summary by the head of the European Council Charles Michel's results of the Russian presidential elections are an abnormal act, an attempt to hush up the shame of the 2016 US presidential elections, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
In her Telegram channel, she noted that the President of the European Council “congratulated” Russian President Vladimir Putin on the election results, citing the predictability of the result. According to Zakharova, normal people comment on the election results only after the process is completed, “but these are normal people, not current European officials/NATO members.”
“Apparently, the “Westerners” decided to take revenge for their shame in 2016, when they rushed to congratulate Clinton before the end of the US presidential elections, and in the end (ex-President Donald — ed.) Trump won… Now they want to show their awareness and flaunt accurate forecasts, but they cannot recognize the unity of Russia, otherwise they will have to sign their own losing,” Zakharova noted.
She also ironically asked why the West is raising money “to help Ukraine” if they already see the result of events in advance.
The Federation Council has scheduled presidential elections for March 17, 2024. Voting will last three days: March 15, 16 and 17. Four candidates registered by the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation are vying for the post of head of state: Leonid Slutsky, Nikolai Kharitonov, Vladislav Davankov and Vladimir Putin.
