The Moskovsky District Court of St. Petersburg sent local resident Alexandra Karaseva to a pre-trial detention center, who on March 15 threw a Molotov cocktail on the porch of the school where the polling station is located. This was reported by the joint press service of the city courts.
According to the investigation, unknown persons “developed a criminal plan, the purpose of which was to disrupt the work of one of the polling stations by setting fire to the entrance” and contacted Karaseva by phone.
On the first day of the elections, Karaseva came to school 358 on Varshavskaya Street, where the polling station is located, and threw a Molotov cocktail on the porch. A poster dedicated to the ongoing elections caught fire, the court’s press service explained.
“Mash on the Moika” wrote that the girl filmed the fire on video.

Karaseva has already been charged under the article on “obstructing the exercise of electoral rights or the work of election commissions” by a group of people (clause “c” of Part 2 of Article 141 of the Criminal Code).
The girl admitted guilt. Kurakina asked the court to send her under house arrest, and not to a pre-trial detention center. She faces up to five years in prison.
According to the calculations of Novaya Gazeta Europe, on the first day of the elections at least 15 cases of “obstruction of the work of election commissions” were opened in Russian regions. .
