Koltsov died at the age of 43. Salavat Yulaev reported his death on Tuesday.

Koltsov played in the NHL for the Pittsburgh Penguins. He also represented the Belarusian Yunost and Dynamo (Minsk), the Russian Severstal, Metallurg (Novokuznetsk), Ak Bars, Spartak (Moscow), Salavat Yulaev and Atlant (Mytishchi) . Upon completion of his career, he worked on the coaching staff of Dynamo Minsk, Dynamo Molodechno, Spartak and Salavat Yulaev.
