“The US work in the field of creating a sea-based hypersonic missile is a reaction to Russia’s more successful and effective developments in this area. The Americans are trying to create an analogue of the Russian Zircon hypersonic missile and all US efforts in this area are focused on preventing Russia from being ahead in the creation of this weapon,» Korotchenko said.
At the same time, he emphasized that the American fleet is only at the stage of bench testing, testing the design and confirming the specified characteristics. According to the analyst, before full-scale testing, not to mention the adoption of this type of weapon by the US Navy, “there are still years and years of work ahead.”
