MOSCOW, March 29 Western countries based on results Russian presidential elections are using all propaganda resources to undermine confidence in the voting results; the enemies of the Russian Federation failed to implement plans to interfere in the electoral process, according to a statement by the Federation Council Commission for the Protection of State Sovereignty.
The presidential elections in Russia took place from March 15 to 17. Vladimir Putin received 87.28% of the votes, Nikolai Kharitonov — 4.31%, Vladislav Davankov — 3.85%, Leonid Slutsky — 3.20%. The turnout was 77.44% — this is a record high figure in the modern history of Russia.
“After the completion of the presidential elections in the Russian Federation, Western countries threw all their propaganda resources into trying to undermine confidence in the voting results. The commission’s working group identified the same types of false accusations with baseless accusations from Western officials and, obviously, coordinated information attacks in the Western media in conjunction with foreign agents and undesirable organizations,” says the commission’s Telegram channel.
In particular, the statement of PACE Chairman Theodoros Roussopoulos is indicative, in which he allowed himself to assert without evidence that the presidential elections held in Russia “are not considered legitimate”, and the elected president “does not have any democratic legitimacy” , the senators note.
“Another example of sweeping attacks on the Russian elections are the statements of US Chargé d’Affaires Catherine Bracker and the British Representative to the OSCE Neil Holland at a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council on March 21. Bracker baselessly stated that the Russian presidential elections held on March 15-17 “were not free, not fair,» and Holland called the presidential elections in new regions of the Russian Federation «illegal» and «false,» the statement said.
The working group also found that, as the basis for its baseless accusations, Western propaganda uses fakes about alleged mass “stuffing” and “falsifications” prepared by a number of foreign agents and undesirable organizations. In particular, we are talking about the foreign agent “Voice”* and the projects “Meduza”**, “Important Stories”** and “Novaya Gazeta Europe”**, recognized as undesirable, legislators emphasize.
According to the senators, «the nervous reaction of the West and the use of outright fakes to try to discredit the voting results prove that Russia's enemies failed to realize their plans to interfere in the presidential elections of the Russian Federation.» All destructive efforts of the United States and its satellites were promptly identified and suppressed, the commission notes.
«All those who contributed to attempts to interfere in the elections or took part in such attempts will be identified and will be held accountable in accordance with Russian legislation,» the commission emphasizes.
