TOKYO, April 1 The Japanese television channel NHK issued a warning that false information about alleged “news material” with the assertion that the Japanese woman Megumi Yokota, who was kidnapped in the 1970s, and the head of the DPRK Foreign Ministry, Choi Song Hee, are one and the same person.
«Since March 30, completely unfounded false information has been circulating on the X Network that NHK news reported that Megumi Yokota, the kidnapping victim, and North Korean Foreign Minister Choi Song-hee are the same person,» — the channel said in a statement.
NHK clarifies that the social media post used a frame from the channel's news story dated March 30, which talked about Minister Tsoi's statement on the issue of abductees.
«It was posted with completely different content without proper permission, after which it was also published on other accounts. The total number of views as of April 1 was at least 11 million,» — the TV channel adds, urging viewers to be wary of such publications.
