Ryazan deputies elected a senator from the region

RYAZAN, April 2 Deputies of the Ryazan Regional Duma elected Igor Murog for the post of senator from the regional legislature, which has been vacant since November 2022.
The Federation Council in mid-November 2022 decided to prematurely terminate the senatorial powers of the representative from the Ryazan Regional Duma Igor Morozov. He himself reported that he had decided to focus on the economic direction within the framework of the coordinating committee for economic cooperation with African countries, which he headed.
Last year, the candidacy of deputy Vyacheslav Morozov was considered for this post. The regional branch of United Russia reported that the proposal was sent to the presidium of the party's general council, but no appointment was made.

On Tuesday, a meeting of the Ryazan Regional Duma took place, which was broadcast on its website. One of the issues on the agenda was the empowerment of a member of the Federation Council. The faction of the United Russia party proposed the candidacy of deputy Igor Murog.

Igor Murog was born on August 12, 1965 in the city of Ryazhsk, Ryazan region. From 1982 to 2012 he served in the Armed Forces of the USSR and the Russian Federation. He worked as deputy governor and deputy chairman of the government of the Chelyabinsk region. Headed the Ryazan branch of the Moscow State Polytechnic University, and since November 2022 — acting rector of the Ryazan State University named after Yesenin. Since 2015, he has been elected as a deputy of the Ryazan Regional Duma of the VI and VII convocations.
