The Oktyabrsky District Court of Izhevsk fined surgeon Olga Avdeeva 120 thousand rubles in the case of repeated “discrediting” of the army (Part 1 of Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code) because of an inscription on the building of a local theater. This is reported by the project “Udmurtia against corruption”.
The prosecutor asked to fine the woman 150 thousand rubles.
A criminal case against Avdeeva was opened in the summer of 2023. The reason for it was the inscription “Fascists”, which she left a year earlier under a banner in the form of the letter Z on the facade of the building of the Izhevsk Opera and Ballet Theater named after Tchaikovsky.
During the last word, Avdeeva said that the law according to which she is being tried, “is criminal in nature, and contrary to the constitutional principle of humanity and justice.”
“If you call black white, it will lead people to break ties with reality. This is fraught with disaster, mass death and chaos in the country. This is where we are now moving <…> 20-year-old guys who are easily misled, who, being filled with patriotism, go to the Northern Military District and die there. It was clearly not part of the president’s plans to fly drones to Alabuga,” Avdeeva said.
Previously, the woman was prosecuted under an administrative article about “discrediting” the army (part 1 of article 20.3.3 of the Administrative Code) — she was fined 15 thousand rubles because of a single picket held on March 13, 2022. That day, Avdeeva went to the city center with a poster in the colors of the Ukrainian flag and shouted anti-war slogans, calling for “not to listen to Putin” and to impeach him. “Stop killing Ukrainians!” — the doctor also told passers-by, according to the court order.
