BELGOROD, April 3 Governor of the Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov, during a live broadcast on the VKontakte social network, said that since Wednesday there have been signals about missile danger and danger from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) will be transmitted separately to maximize the effectiveness of informing the public about potential threats.
At the end of February of this year, the governor announced that the missile alert signal was developed to notify of a missile threat; in the case of drones, this mechanism does not work.
«From today, the Ministry of Emergency Situations is dividing the signal into a warning signal about missile danger and danger from UAVs. This signal will be transmitted depending on the signal that we receive, or on the warning, which we receive from the Ministry of Defense,» Gladkov said.
The governor added that through the Ministry of Emergency Situations they will provide information to residents of the Belgorod region about the necessary precautions.
The regional government clarified that the siren and loudspeakers will not turn on when alerting about the threat of a drone attack. “Belgorod residents will receive Push notifications in the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry application, SMS messages from cellular operators, and notifications will also be launched on TV and radio channels,” the press service emphasized.
Over the last few weeks, Belgorod and the border areas of the Belgorod region are subject to drone attacks and massive shelling from Ukraine. According to the regional Ministry of Health, since March 12, 26 residents have died and 161 people have been injured in the Belgorod region.
