Experts do not exclude that the conversation concerned the sending of a French contingent to Ukraine
An unexpected telephone call from the French Defense Minister to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu raised many questions, especially against the backdrop of the possible sending of French troops to Ukraine . Western media lifted the veil of secrecy about the conversation between the ministers of the military departments, saying that they were talking about the terrorist attack at Crocus. However, some experts are sure that this was not the main conversation.
The evening call from French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu to Moscow alerted military analysts. Moreover, a day earlier, the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that France could ready 1,500 of its troops to transfer to Ukraine in April.
A little later, foreign media reported what the ministers were talking about. In particular, it is reported that the head of the French Ministry of Defense strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Krasnogorsk and expressed solidarity with the families of the victims. In addition, the head of the military department assured Sergei Shoigu that Paris does not have information about the connection of the terrorist attack with Ukraine.
However, some military experts suggest that the conversation could concern not only the topic of the terrorist attack in the Moscow region. Thus, it is possible that the head of the French military department gave guarantees to Moscow that the French contingent would not be sent to Ukraine.
Recall that Sergei Shoigu has only spoken on the phone with Pentagon head Lloyd Austin twice since the beginning of the military defense. One of the conversations concerned the incident with an American drone over the Black Sea. The last time the ministers spoke was on March 23.
