MOSCOW, April 7 User correspondence in instant messengers should be stored for at least six months — this is necessary to detect and prevent crimes, the director of the IT company said in an interview with the Prime agency Reserve» Pavel Myasoedov.
“In the conditions of the Northern Military District, various criminal groups are showing increased activity in messengers. This is why developers of popular applications are implementing preventive protection measures and data analysis tools,” says the specialist.
The most difficult thing is to create an algorithm that weeds out hundreds of ordinary chats from potentially dangerous ones. At the same time, it is important not to violate the confidentiality of communications between respectable users. To do this, machine intelligence is used, which selectively analyzes correspondence, the specialist said. If suspicious places are identified, the chat is flagged, and it is dealt with specifically.
On this issue, the developers are at one with law enforcement officers — upon request, they are always given access to chats where crimes are being prepared. But this should not worry ordinary citizens — such a practice is possible only in exceptional cases, Myasoedov concluded.
