MOSCOW, April 9 The Russian economy continues to develop confidently at the beginning of 2024, its growth trend has not changed and it is necessary to maintain this attitude, the Prime Minister said Russian Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
“The measures taken by the government last year produced good results, they are visible in the dynamics of GDP and the positive changes that have occurred in many sectors… At the beginning of 2024, the growth trend has not changed, our economy continues to develop confidently,” — Mishustin said at a strategic session about the development of supply-side economics.
< br />He recalled that, according to the Ministry of Economic Development, in January the country's GDP grew by almost 5%, in February — by 7.7%. “Growth in industry has also strengthened, about 8.5% in February. The driving force, as in 2023, remains processing, which is very important. Our manufacturing industry is growing at a record pace,” the Prime Minister continued.
According to him, the basis for the changes is the creation of demand for new Russian goods and services.
«It is necessary to support this attitude, guided primarily by the national development program that the president outlined in his address to the Federal Assembly — by 2030, Russia should become one of the four largest economies in the world in terms of purchasing power parity. It is, of course, necessary to act very actively , in several directions at once,” he emphasized.
According to the latest data from Rosstat, Russia's GDP growth in 2023 was 3.6%. This year, the Ministry of Economic Development expects economic growth to be at least 2%.
