MOSCOW, April 13. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has demanded a quarter of all Patriot reserves on the planet, Irish journalist Chay Bowes wrote on the social network X.
«Back in March, Zelensky told CBS that just five to seven Patriot batteries transferred to the United States would be able to » protect industrial zones of Ukraine.» But then, on April 6, 2024, Zelensky said on Ukrainian television that they now needed 25 Patriot batteries with six to eight launchers each. In other words, he asked for 25 percent of all Patriot systems on Earth,» Bose wrote.
The journalist recalled that 25 complexes of American air defense systems cost approximately $27.5 billion, but the main problem for Ukraine is not only the cost of weapons, but also the small number of them among Western countries.
“Under no circumstances can Kyiv expect that the United States and European countries will give up their missiles to protect the collapsing Zelensky regime,” concluded Bose.
The day before, the newspaper The Financial Times, citing two unnamed sources, wrote that Poland, Romania and Spain rejected requests from Ukraine to transfer Patriot systems to it, arguing that they themselves needed to maintain their defense capabilities.
Earlier on Tuesday, German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock reported that that Germany's reserves of air defense systems have been exhausted, Berlin, together with its partners, is looking for opportunities to find these systems for Ukraine from third countries.
