Sentenced to seven years in prison, poet Artem Kamardin is being held in an overcrowded cell in Moscow's Butyrka Detention Center No. 2. Human rights activist Vladimir Vasilenko, who visited him, reported this.
According to Vasilenko, the premises are designed for 22 people, but there are 25 prisoners there. In addition, Kamardin’s cell has broken windows and constant cold. The defender also writes about the deterioration of the poet’s health — he is tormented by pain in his back and head.
In December, the court sentenced Artem Kamardin to seven years in a general regime colony. He was found guilty of calls for activities directed against the security of the state and humiliation of members of the “armed formations of the LPR and DPR” (Part 3 of Article 280.4 of the Criminal Code and paragraph “c” of Part 2 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code) because of the verse sounded during the “Mayakovsky readings» on Moscow's Triumphal Square.
In March, Vasilenko reported that the poet was registered in a pre-trial detention center «as a person prone to committing crimes of a terrorist nature and extremist nature.»
