SARATOV, April 21Investigators have opened a criminal case for causing death by negligence in connection with the death of two 14-year-old girls in a bathhouse in the village of Ivanovka, Saratov region, the regional department of the RF Investigative Committee reported on the Telegram channel.
“Investigators of the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case into the death of two people… According to preliminary data, on April 21, 2024, as a result of the careless actions of an unidentified person when handling a wood-burning stove in connection with the blocking of the chimney with a slide valve, an accumulation of carbon monoxide occurred in the bathhouse located on Sovetskaya street in the village of Ivanovka, Bazarno-Karabulak district. As a result, a 14-year-old girl who was in the bathhouse died,” the report says.
The case was initiated under Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Causing death by negligence to two or more persons.” The sanctions under this article provide for up to four years in prison.
The regional prosecutor's office clarified in the Telegram channel that the department has taken control of the investigation into the case of carbon monoxide poisoning of children.
