The lawyer of one of the prisoners said that in the “Black Dolphin” they torture in other ways. For example, a prisoner was dipped into a basin of water with an electric current connected to his genitals. In addition, convicts are beaten on the legs with batons, “The veins burst, the limbs become like a solid blue hematoma. Then the swelling goes down and my feet cannot fit into the boots. And from above the person looks normal,” writes Merchacheva. The human rights activist said that she has a list with the names of prisoners beaten in 2024, with the dates and details of what happened. She sent it to the Investigative Committee, the Prosecutor General's Office and the Commissioner for Human Rights Tatyana Moskalkova. The latter reported that it had received the appeal and also asked the Prosecutor General's Office to check the information about torture in the colony. “Black Dolphin” is the largest colony for life prisoners in Russia. Its prisoners are kept in strict isolation and are under constant control by FSIN officers.
