TBILISI, Apr 29 Former Georgian State Minister for Integration to European and Euro-Atlantic structures, Alexy Petriashvili was administratively detained by law enforcement officers in Tbilisi at a rally against the bill on foreign agents, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
“We confirm that he was detained administratively,” the ministry said in response to a corresponding question.
According to Georgian media, Petriashvili was detained under articles for petty hooliganism and disobedience to law enforcement agencies.
Another action against the law on foreign agents is taking place in Tbilisi. Special forces and additional law enforcement teams appeared near parliament after some protesters tried to break through the police cordon and climb onto the stage in front of parliament, which was set up by the ruling Georgian Dream party for the upcoming April 29 counter-action. Riot police used pepper spray several times to dislodge the protesters.
