Germany claims that the suspect in the murder of Ukrainians was a Russian

BERLIN, Apr 29 German law enforcement officials say that the suspect murder of Ukrainians in Murnau, Germany, is a Russian citizen.
Earlier on Monday, the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Bonn reported that at that time there was no confirmation that the person detained on charges of murdering two Ukrainian citizens in Murnau, Germany, was a Russian citizen.

A joint release from the Munich Prosecutor General's Office and the main police department of the South of Upper Bavaria states that «a 57-year-old Russian citizen, who was detained as a suspect immediately after the crime was committed, is currently in custody.»

The statement also said that the main suspect, according to the initial investigation, had been living in Germany since the early 1990s.
It was previously reported that on Saturday evening two men with stab wounds were found near a shopping center in the city of Murnau. One of them died on the spot, the second later died in the hospital. Both turned out to be citizens of Ukraine. Soon after the incident, the police detained a Russian citizen who lived nearby and was suspected of committing a double murder. On Sunday, local police said Munich prosecutors had issued a warrant for his arrest. Later, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stated that the dead were Ukrainian military personnel undergoing medical rehabilitation in Germany.
