ROSTOV-ON-DON, April 29 The court of the city of Tsimlyansk in the Rostov region chose a preventive measure in the form of detention in relation to a man who, according to investigators, opened fire on a car with people on the road, as a result of which a 17-year-old girl died, the press service of the Russian Federation State Investigative Committee for the Region reported.
“In the city of Tsimlyansk, the court, at the request of the investigator, chose a preventive measure in the form of detention against a man suspected of murdering a 17-year-old girl and attempted murder of an 18-year-old boy,” the statement says. 
It is clarified that the suspect was placed in a pre-trial detention center until June 27, 2024; the investigator, with his participation, carried out an “on-site verification of evidence.”
According to investigators, on the night of April 27, 2024, the accused was on a dirt road near an agricultural field located in the Tsimlyansky district. From there, he began shooting with a firearm at a passing car in which there were an 18-year-old young man and his 17-year-old friend. The girl was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds, where she died.
After some time, the suspect was detained. Investigators opened a criminal case under articles of murder and attempted murder. The regional prosecutor's office also organized an inspection. The investigation of the criminal case is ongoing, the press service of the Russian Investigative Committee for the Rostov Region clarified.
