MOSCOW, April 30 Five fire engines arrived at the dormitory of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) in Moscow after reports of an explosion, the correspondent reports.
Residents of building No. 12 were evacuated around 10:30 p.m.
As eyewitnesses said, they first heard the sound of a pop, after which the fire alarm went off. According to witnesses, the smell of burning could be felt on several floors.
The capital's head office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations clarified that the incident occurred due to a short circuit in the elevator's electrical equipment, which did not lead to a fire. There were no injuries.
