State Duma Deputy Alexander Khinshtein, in an interview with Samara Review, supported the idea of “checking the sexual orientation” of officials.
Journalists for the publication asked Khinshtein whether he considered such checks necessary for all officials before appointment to major positions. “In my opinion, inaccessible zones should be those institutions, government structures that are directly related to the upbringing and formation of children, adolescents and young people <…> I don’t see anything reprehensible or bad in such a check,” the deputy replied. Khinshtein did not specify how exactly those applying for positions could be checked.
“Protection of traditional family values is one of the tenets of state policy, and people who are involved in this must be approached with particular care. I myself have two children. And I definitely was and will be against any of my sons’ teachers representing non-traditional sexual values,” added the State Duma deputy.
The Samara Review’s question is related to the fact that in early April the Minister of Youth Samara region politician Sergei Burtsev resigned — earlier Khinshtein wrote about his homosexuality in his Telegram channel and said that he had passed denunciations about this “to all authorities, as well as to Governor Dmitry Azarov.”
“Why youth Politics in the Samara region is going, excuse me, through the ass, and the upbringing of children is entrusted to openly gay propagandists? The regional minister of youth policy, Sergei Burtsev, probably knows the answer to this question. Just the day before, he returned from vacation, which he spent alone with his subordinate Andrei Zolotukhin,” said one of the publications of the State Duma deputy.
