The 2nd Western District Military Court received a criminal case against the former Prosecutor General and First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Vitaly Yarema, Mediazona drew attention to the case file.
Yarema was charged in absentia with distribution “fake news” about the Russian army (Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code) and promoting terrorism (Part 1 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code).
Vitaly Yarema, after a career in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in 2012 became a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from “Fatherland”. In 2014, after the change of power in Ukraine, for several months he was the first deputy prime minister in charge of the security bloc, and then until February 2015 he was the prosecutor general. Yarema subsequently joined the Petro Poroshenko Bloc.
