MOSCOW, May 4. Russia needs to be more active in searching for business partners in Latin America — countries in this region can significantly increase supplies of various goods to the Russian market, “to fill it up” with shrimp and other seafood, said Tatyana Mashkova, general director of the National Committee for Promotion of Economic Cooperation with Latin American Countries (NC SESLA).
“Today, Russia’s activity on the continent is evident, but it is not enough; we need to gain momentum. We are still very inert in searching there for new goods and technologies that the country needs so much,” she said.
“We have now stopped receiving textiles and wool from Europe. Thus, Latin America produces excellent cotton and wool of the highest quality. Mexico, Brazil produce cars and equipment, automobile products are developed there. Doesn’t Russia now need both cars and spare parts for them?” , — added the agency’s interlocutor.
Cuba, she said, “can offer unique pharmaceuticals and technologies to treat a variety of diseases, including oncology and diabetes, and the Peruvians and Chileans have excellent mining equipment.”
“Countries in the region can overwhelm us with shrimp and other seafood,” emphasized the general director of NC SESLA.
«Such examples can be multiplied endlessly. Moreover, new points of contact are constantly emerging in a variety of industries,» Mashkova concluded.
