The Prosecutor General's Office has declared the human rights and research organization Freedom House «undesirable», according to the department's telegram channel.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the American NGO is “assisting the establishment of the so-called "dominant" role of the United States in the world» and «participates in promoting the policies of unfriendly states on the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, including discrediting» the Russian army.
Freedom House, adds the Prosecutor General's Office, «helps Russian opposition structures, pro-Western and LGBT -activists and persons convicted of committing terrorist crimes.”
The agency writes that the organization “actively calls” for assistance to Ukraine, the confiscation of frozen Russian assets in its favor, and sanctions against Russia and the countries that help it.
Freedom House exists since 1941. Since 1978, the organization has published annual Freedom in the World reports, which analyze how countries respect civil and political rights.
“Bloody conflicts, often caused by aggressive actions of authoritarian regimes, have led to deaths and destruction of property, and also endangered freedom. The Kremlin's full-scale invasion of Ukraine entered its second year, leading to a further deterioration in human rights records in the occupied territories and a further escalation of repression within Russia itself,” Freedom House said in its latest report.
