MOSCOW, May 8. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at the EAEU summit in Moscow that the Union has transformed into an important and a promising integration association in the international space.
“Ten years ago, a historic agreement on the Eurasian Economic Union was signed in Astana. In a relatively short period, our Union has transformed into an important and promising integration association in the international space. Together, more than a thousand different regulatory documents were adopted. The correctness of the chosen vector of development of our association is confirmed by macroeconomic results of the decade. Thus, trade turnover with the countries of the Union increased 1.7 times, reaching $28.5 billion, and exports more than doubled. We consider this a good result,” Tokayev noted.
According to him, the high level of integration interaction is supported by the joint implementation of large infrastructure projects, the development of industrial cooperation and the formation of a common market for services.
The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is an international integration economic association operating since January 1, 2015 . Its participants are Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The Union is one of the largest economic associations with the free movement of goods, services, capital and labor. The meeting of the EAEU leaders is timed to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the signing of the treaty establishing the union.
