MOSCOW, May 10. Russian President Vladimir Putin suggested and O. Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin to continue working as Chairman of the Government.
Earlier on Friday, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin announced that the President of the Russian Federation had submitted to the State Duma Mishustin’s candidacy for the post of Prime Minister.
“It seems to me that it would be right if we continued to work with you and you continued to work as chairman of the government,” Putin said at a meeting with Mishustin.
The meeting of the head of state with Mishustin took place before the arrival of the candidate for the post prime minister to the State Duma.
The lower house of parliament at a plenary session will consider Mishustin’s candidacy for the post of head of government. Before this, Mishustin meets with factions.
Immediately after the inauguration of the President of the Russian Federation on May 7, the Cabinet of Ministers under the leadership of Mishustin resigned to the incoming head of state.
By law, the head of the Cabinet is appointed by the President after the approval of his candidacy by the State Duma. The new head of the Cabinet, no later than a week after his appointment, submits to the president proposals on the structure of federal executive bodies. Within 14 days, the Prime Minister submits to the State Duma for approval the candidacies of deputy prime ministers and federal ministers — except for the heads of the security bloc and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for whom a special procedure applies. The lower house of parliament, no later than a week later, makes a decision on the candidates presented by the head of government — the persons approved by it are appointed to the position by the President of the Russian Federation. The heads of the Ministry of Defense, FSB, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are appointed to the position after consultations with the Federation Council by the President himself.
