Kia EV3 serial crossover: 600 km range and exterior in the style of the flagship EV9

The compact SUV will go on sale in the home market in July of this year, in the second half of the year it will reach Europe, and later in the USA . Both versions presented today have front-wheel drive.

The Korean brand unveiled the Kia EV3 concept in October last year. Now the company has presented a serial subcompact crossover (it was decided to keep its previous name), created based on that show car. So far, the “regular” crossover and the GT-Line version have debuted; later the family will be replenished with the “hot” GT version.

The commercial version of the Kia EV3 is not much different from the concept of the same name. The exterior of the new product is designed in the style of the flagship crossover EV9. The SUV has slightly different head optics (the shape is the same as the concept, but the light pattern is different), modified bumpers with a different air intake in the front, and it was also equipped with traditional exterior mirrors and thicker roof pillars.

The GT-Line version differs from the “regular” Kia EV3 electric cross due to sportier bumpers, as well as original alloy wheels of a different design. The aerodynamic drag coefficient of this model is 0.263 cd. The length of the EV3 is 4300 mm, width – 1850 mm, height – 1560 mm, and the distance between the axles is 2680 mm. Note that the new product is 105 mm longer than the e-Soul and 120 mm shorter than the e-Niro.

< p>The interior is decorated minimalistically. In front of the driver is a multifunction steering wheel with a rim truncated at the top and bottom. On the front panel there is a large horizontal display that combines a 12.3-inch virtual instrument panel, a similarly sized touchscreen for the infotainment system, and a 5-inch touch screen located between them for controlling the climate control system.

The interior of the SUV is designed for five riders; materials used for decoration are made from recycled fabric and plastic. The center console has a niche for storing small items, as well as a pull-out table and a relaxation mode when reclining the backs of the front seats — they can be used while the electric car is parked. The trunk volume is 460 liters, and the niche under the hood is 25 liters.

The Kia EV3 is based on the E-GMP platform developed by Hyundai Motor, while, unlike the EV 9, the 800-volt architecture is replaced by a 400-volt one. The crossover is available with a choice of two traction batteries, with a capacity of 58.3 or 81.4 kWh (for the Long Range version). The maximum power reserve of this SUV is 600 km (when calculated using the WLTP cycle).

The “regular” EV3 and the version with the GT-Line addition have only one “filling” option: an electric motor located on the front axle, the power of which is 204 hp and the maximum torque is 283 Nm. The new Kia crossover takes 7.5 seconds to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h, and its top speed is 170 km/h. In the future, the family will be replenished with the “charged” version of the Kia EV3 GT.

The compact SUV EV3 will go on sale in South Korea in July, in the second half of this year it will reach Europe, and later it will be in dealers in other markets, including the USA.
