MOSCOW, May 23. Norilsk Nickel is planning to build a platinum production plant in Bahrain, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said on Channel One.
«The Norilsk Nickel company plans to build, for example, a plant in Bahrain for the production of platinum; there is projects and already agreements related to the repair of Russian ships at the shipyards of Bahrain,» Novak said.
The King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa is on an official visit to Russia these days. On Thursday, he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin. The negotiations were first held in a narrow format, and then continued in an expanded format with the participation of delegations from the two countries.
At a meeting with the king, Putin announced good trends in the development of trade cooperation between countries, although they are still of a symbolic nature. According to him, the situation regarding investment interaction is more favorable.
Norilsk Nickel is a diversified mining and metallurgical company. The world's largest producer of palladium and high-grade nickel, a leading producer of platinum, cobalt, copper and rhodium. The main production units are located in the Norilsk industrial region, on the Kola Peninsula and in the Trans-Baikal Territory. At the end of 2023, Nornickel reduced nickel production by 5%, to 208.58 thousand tons.
